The pouty-lipped, strawberry blonde
beauty, now seen everywhere from billboards to magazine covers, hails from
Peterborough, Ontario, in a country that seems to export a lot more than
beer and maple syrup. With Canadian beauties such as Linda Evangelista,
Yasmeen Ghauri, Shania Twain, and now model Estella Warren, we can't help
but wonder what Canada will bring us next.
Estella Warren was born December 23, 1978, to an elementary school
principal mother and a used-car salesman father. A professional swimmer,
Estella moved to Toronto at the age of 12 to train with the national
synchronized swimming team. In 1996, a change in career paths whisked
Estella from chlorine filled waters to designer catwalks. She participated
in a high school fashion show, and photos of Estella were sent to a New
York modeling agent. Next thing she knew, she was doing photo shoots with
professional fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth, and posing for
Italian Vogue.
After becoming the senior national champion at 17 years old, Estella could
have moved on to the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, but she chose to make modeling
her priority instead. Since Estella was already living on her own in
Toronto for 4 years, the move to New York to pursue a modeling and acting
career was not a difficult one. Her father became her manager and modeling
gigs were soon coming Estella's way.
Walking by a magazine rack on the street, you may have caught Estella's
beautiful face on the covers of the following magazines: French and
Spanish Marie Claire, French, German, Spanish, and Italian Elle, German
GQ, as well as Yahoo Internet Life. Her appearance on the cover of Yahoo
was not in vain; Estella has entered the world of computers with a 2000
desktop calendar, where users can view Estella on their desktop all year
round and even hear recorded greetings of her. Estella has appeared in
advertisements for Andrew Marc, Byblos, Manuel Canovas beachwear, Perry
Ellis, Cacharel, De Beers, Samsung notebooks, Cartier, Volvo, not to
mention her appearance in the Victoria's Secret catalogue. Her most notable
work in advertising is for Chanel, who previously used French
singer/actress Vanessa Paradis as their spokesperson. Chanel's Luc Besson
selected Estella as the new Chanel No. 5 Girl and she can be seen in ads
for the designer perfume.
Estella has walked down the runways for the following fashion designers:
Andrew Groves, Sonia Rykiel, Kenzo, and Yves Saint Laurent. When she's not
posing for fashion photographers, Estella also enjoys horseback riding,
playing the piano, singing, and of course, returning to her original
passion, swimming. No stranger to wearing a swimsuit, Estella was featured
in this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, frolicking on the
beaches with fellow models Laetitia Casta, Carré Otis and Heidi Klum.
Presently signed with modeling agencies in New York, Paris, London, and
Milan, this champion swimmer turned supermodel is looking to take her
talents to the silver screen. Already building her acting resume, Estella
will next be seen in the soon-to-be-released film Perfume. |
